A fire broke out in the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard yesterday.Seven people were injured in the fire which broke out in the USS Miami nuclear submarine.The injured were firefighters and Ship workers.However reports state that the nuclear reactor was not at risk.”The nuclear propulsion spaces were physically isolated early in the event from the forward compartment fire. The ship’s reactor was not operating at the time, had been shut down for over two months, and remained in a safe and stable condition throughout the entire event. Propulsion plant spaces remained habitable and were continuously manned,” a spokesman said.
It seems there is no immediate danger of radiation.
