Should you worry about the end of the world ? Is doomsday looming? Will it come about as a result of a nuclear disaster and the ensuring radiation? Do you have your apocalypse survival kit ready?
The world was supposed to end in May 21, 2011 – and it did not end. So should you think the next prediction for December 21, 2012 is also predicted to be the real deal. In the Mayan calendar – they say 2012 is when the world comes to an end. That is is when the calendar actually ends! Whoever heard of a calendar with an end date.
However whether the world will end or not some people are freaking out. Many people. Sales of Apocalypse survival kits are flying off the shelves.
However there have bee many prediction of the end of the world that did not come true. Some take comfort from that .However while its true that these predictions did not come true it does not mean that it wont come true in the future. Just because you have not divorced for the last 20 years does not mean that a divorce is not going to happen.
The group most vocal about end of the world has been led by one pastor known as Harold Camping…..
He talks about the rapture and the earthquakes that are mentioned in the Bible. He is from Oakland California in the USA. He i s almost 80 years old and a former civil engineer. His organization is the Family radio network that is a religious broadcasting organizing which is funded by his listeners. He now owns over 66 stations int eh US alone.
He has predicted the second coming of the Lord. He stated that about 2% of the world’s population would be ruptured to heaven and the others will go to eh eh hell. Which group do you think you fall into?
The pastor has not simply preached on the pulpit but he has bought media across the US from bill boards to radio stations. Prior to May 21, 2011 he purchased space in over 2000 billboard. Hie message of the end of the world has been hard to ignore . His messages goes out in 48 languages .He says he has radio stations in South Africa, Russia an Turkey,.
Some of the slogans were :
“Blow the trumpet, warn the people!”.
Mr. Camping is anything but stupid.,A former civil engineer he claims that he has studies the bible for 70 years and developed a system that interpret the prophesies hidden in it , He claimed that 21 May is 722, 500 days from 1 April AD133 which he says is the day that Jesus was crucified on the cross .
He go the 700000 thousand number by multiplying three holy numbers five ten and seventeen together .
. “When I found this out, I tell you, it blew my mind,”
Harold Camping.
He has cited recent incidents such as the Japan nuclear disasters, the earthquakes in New Zealand and Haiti and says that these are signs of an impeding doom. HE cites all the “bad’ things that are happening in the world which were prophesied for the end of days.
“All the stealing, and the lying, and the wickedness and the sexual perversion that is going on in society is telling us something,” So too is the gay pride movement. It was sent by God as a sign of the end.”
Mr Camping grew up as a baptist and is against abortion as well and does not believe in evolution.
However this is not the first time that he has predicted the end of the world. In 1994 many of his radio listeners gathered in an stadium and waited for the Lord to return. He says that there were a few things missing in his prophesy then .
He has convinced many people of the end of the world> Some of them could be seen driving around in vans warning America of the end of the world.
However May came and passed with no incident. The Rapture did not happen. A clock at Mr. Camping organization website has reached Zero with a message
“Judgment Day: the Bible guarantees it.”
Twitter went crazy when the doomsday did not happen. Some few the tweets read
“Harold Camping Doomsday prediction fails; No earthquake in New Zealand,” r
. “If this whole end-of-the-world thingy is still going on… it’s already past 6.00 in New Zealand and the world hasn’t ended,”
. “Through Croydon; devastation, pestilence, drawn, emaciated faces of the walking dead. No sign of the Rapture though,”
However it was an opportunity for atheists to mock the religious . Some planned parties In North Carolina the American Humanist Association held a party to celebrate the Earth’s Survival. They also had a music concert planned for later that night.
Mr. Camping was serious in his belief. When he was asked by the media the a few days before the deadline he said that he had no “Plan B”
So do you think that the world will end in December 2012?
